The Lawson Foundation is pleased to announce that Cathy Taylor has been appointed to the role of President & CEO. Cathy is currently the Executive Director of the Ontario Nonprofit Network (ONN). Her mandate will begin on April 15, 2024. She will succeed Marcel Lauzière who has served in that position since April 2014.
“We are delighted that Cathy will be coming on board to lead the Foundation in its next stage of development, building on Marcel’s vision and the team’s accomplishments over the last decade. Cathy brings such a unique set of skills and experience to the position, including her ability to collaborate, to influence, to inspire and to innovate.” said Wynne Young, Chair of the Board.
“I am thrilled to join the Lawson Foundation. Leading a Canadian foundation is an exciting opportunity especially one that is national in scope and has an inspiring mission as does the Lawson Foundation. I look forward to building on Marcel’s legacy of leadership in partnership with Lawson Foundation’s tremendous staff, board, and members. I am excited to work together to creatively and innovatively advance the healthy development of children and youth and to contribute to a strong and vital philanthropic sector in Canada” said Cathy Taylor.
Cathy has been the Executive Director of the ONN since 2012. Over the last twelve years, she has built the foundation for its success, taking ONN from a project housed at the Centre for Social Innovation to an extensive and impactful province-wide network. At ONN, she has been playing a mentoring role with several provincial and territorial networks that have been working towards developing similar organizations in their own provinces. As part of this work, she has been chairing the Canadian Federation of Nonprofit Networks that convenes regional, provincial/territorial and national entities to collaborate and learn from each other.
Through her leadership, she has built a strong presence across the country, as well as becoming a trusted partner of the Washington-based National Council of Nonprofits where she plays the role of international ally.
Some of the major accomplishments of ONN under Cathy’s leadership include: the development of a pension plan for the nonprofit sector; the launching of provincial ‘state of the sector’ surveys on the nonprofit sector; labour force strategy projects, and ONN’s seminal Decent Work initiatives. Cathy has deep experience in public policy at both the provincial and federal levels. Her public policy work has helped to create a more enabling environment to allow charities and nonprofits to better support their communities.
Welcome on board Cathy!
