Miggsie LawsonEstablished in 2004, the Miggsie Fund supports charities in the London, Ontario area. Grants are awarded from time to time for both small Community grants as well as larger Opportunity grants to honour Miggsie’s memory and her love for the London community.

Huron University College Foundation (2012-2016)$250,000
To support the Huron-Lawson Chair in Pastoral Theology. In the 1980s and 90s, contributions from The Lawson Foundation helped launch the Huron-Lawson Chair in Pastoral Theology in the Faculty of Theology, Huron University College in London, Ontario. The Chair prepares students to be effective religious and social leaders, particularly in the areas of communication and pastoral care. Pastoral theology lies at the heart of the Faculty of Theology’s training. For its students, pastoral theology is the touchstone for all ministry and a skill essential to success in their chosen careers whether in the clergy or the community at large. The total $1,000,000 grant is funded by two program areas at The Lawson Foundation: Special Program – $750,000 and Miggsie Lawson Program – $250,000.

The Museum, located beside the Lawson Prehistoric Iroquoian Village, a site occupied by the Neutral Iroquoians in the 16th century A.D., is devoted to the study, display and interpretation of the human occupation of Southwestern Ontario over the past 11,000 years.


Royal Canadian Regiment Fund (2007-2008)

Toward the RCR Museum Fund Campaign for technical service upgrades to maintain current museum standards and for expansion of exhibit space. The Royal Canadian Regiment Museum educates members of the Regiment and all Canadians, especially young Canadians, about the vital importance of Canada’s military heritage.

Toward construction of the new office area, part of SARI’s capital campaign to build a new barn, fencing and office/meeting space and expand the riding arena, “In memory of Tom Allan.” SARI provides opportunities for people with special needs to move towards greater independence and freedom through their connection with horses by offering therapeutic riding and driving programs.


St. John Ambulance Foundation – London (2007-2008)

To support St. John Ambulance in its work to help Canadians improve their health, safety and quality of life by providing training in first aid, CPR and other life-saving skills and through community service.

Toward the campaign to reconfigure and expand the TVCC building and to expand enhancement programs (therapy, specialized programs and clinics). TVCC’s rehabilitation services help children and young adults with physical, communication or developmental needs reach their potential in terms of independence, self-esteem and participation in society.

For the Lawson Literary Awards Fund* which encourages Grade 7 and 8 students to research, write and present projects about Canadian issues of interest and significance to them. *Established in 1978 by Col. Tom Lawson in the name of his father, the Hon. Ray Lawson, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario from 1946-1952.


United Way of London & Middlesex (2007-2008)

To support this multi-partner, multi-sector initiative to work with families through a mentoring and connecting process that supports family members safely in the community. Family Networks Project. Family Networks is a neighbourhood-based family support project that provides access to professional and other community services necessary to keep the family together safely and reduce the number of children in the care of the Children’s Aid Society. Launched in 2007, Family Networks responds to the 2003 research report “Protecting Children is Everybody’s Business”, which identified factors such as poverty, mental illness and woman abuse as contributors to the increasing number of children entering the care of CAS in London.
